How this started

Wade Furr spent a dozen years running demolition and remodelling crews around Cabarrus County before buying a single truck and one container in 2013. The reason was straightforward: he had spent most of a decade waiting on containers that turned up late, turned up in the wrong size, or turned up with a price that changed once the load crossed a scale.

Thirteen years on we run a fleet across Concord, Cabarrus County and the Charlotte metro, and the operating principle has not moved. Tell people the truth about what they need, put the container down without damaging anything, and charge the number that was quoted.

What we actually do differently

We recommend smaller containers. This is the one that surprises people. A great deal of the housing across older Concord, the Kannapolis mill village and the historic county towns was built when plaster over wood lath and heavy dimensional framing were ordinary construction. That material is dense. A 20 yard filled with it reaches its tonnage allowance at roughly two-thirds of its visible height, and the customer pays overage on space they were never permitted to use. Recommending the 15 yard instead costs us revenue and saves the customer money. We do it anyway.

We know where the debris actually goes. The Cabarrus County C&D landfill does not accept construction debris delivered in roll-off trucks, nor whole-home or commercial teardowns. A company that has not solved the routing problem will find it becomes yours at the worst moment. We route every load deliberately, and it is invisible to you when it works, which is the point.

We help you dodge the mixed-load rate. The county charges more per ton for mixed yard-and-construction loads than for clean separated ones. On a job producing both structure and grounds we flag it at the quote stage and help you split the material, rather than letting it all go in one container and quietly billing the higher rate.

One number. The flat rate covers delivery, seven days, collection, disposal and a stated tonnage allowance, with the overage rate quoted in the same breath. No fuel surcharge, no environmental fee appearing on an invoice for the first time.

Why local knowledge matters here

Concord has a genuinely split housing stock, and it changes the advice completely. The older neighbourhoods - downtown Concord, the Kannapolis mill village, the historic centres of Mount Pleasant and Albemarle - give up dense plaster and heavy framing that wants a smaller container. The newer subdivisions across Northwest Concord, Harrisburg and the metro corridors give up bulky, light debris that wants a larger one. Same county, same week, opposite recommendations.

Then there is the geography. Our service area crosses three counties - Cabarrus, Mecklenburg and Stanly, plus the Rowan edge - and disposal routes differently in each. A company quoting an identical number everywhere is averaging and hoping nobody asks. We quote each job on its actual routing, and we will explain the difference if you want to hear it.

• Talia Sossamon — Operations Manager. Runs the schedule, the swaps and the contractor accounts, and keeps track of which loads route to which facility across the county lines. If you need a same-day swap, she is the one who makes it happen.
• Marcus Query — Lead Driver. Has been threading containers onto tight downtown driveways and long rural approaches for years. If he says a 30 will not fit, it will not fit.
• Devon Ritchie — Customer Care Lead. First voice on the phone most mornings, and the person who will walk you through what can and cannot go in the container.
